Client: Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice | Role: Illustration
Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice celebrated 45 years of contributing to and building intersectional movements in 2022. I worked with them to create an illustrated timeline weaving key highlights and moments of joy, strength and resilience. The illustration was pieced together referencing photographs and archival documents/materials. The entire illustration was an ode to the Astraea founding lore which says that it all began at dinner on a kitchen table. I imagined a large kitchen table where Astraea’s grantees, staff and friends gathered to celebrate 45 years of joy in resistance, sharing stories, exchanging memories and seeing illustrated vignettes.
